All Labradoodles are NOT the same!
Because of the immense rise in popularity of the labradoodle, people began crossing any Labrador with a Poodle without regard to genetics, bloodlines, or temperment and calling the puppies "Labradoodles". The result was an unpredictable variety of puppies with various physical characteristics and temperments.

Because of international demand for these labradoodles, causing a 2 - 3 year waiting period, many people started to breed what they call a "labradoodle" [MOST ARE A SIMPLE MATING OF A LABRADOR RETRIEVER AND A POODLE, WITH NO GENETIC TESTING OR CONTROL.]
Even if you see the parents, you do not know what traits have been passed on to the pups, or what undesirable characteristics from grandparents or great grandparents, such as hip dysplasia, aggression, or hormonal deficiencies, may have been passed on.
Unless the labradoodle puppy is a direct descendant in the Tegan Park or Rutland Manor breeding lines, they will NOT have the characteristics that made this breed world renowned. There simply is no substitute for nor any dog similar to these breeding lines.
When people speak of "infusing new lines" - beware. This most often means they do not have the authentic lines, and you won't know what you are getting. Ask to see the research and selective breeding records that went into producing the specific characteristics they wish to "infuse". |
